Course Description:
This course provides students with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, install, and manage efficient irrigation systems for agricultural and landscape applications. Students will learn the principles of water management, soil–water–plant relationships, hydraulic design, and system evaluation. The course covers major irrigation methods—surface, sprinkler, drip, and sub-surface systems—with emphasis on sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and modern technologies.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Analyze field conditions and determine appropriate irrigation methods.

• Design complete irrigation layouts using standard engineering principles.

• Calculate water requirements and system performance parameters.

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot irrigation systems safely and efficiently.

• Apply water conservation and climate-smart irrigation practices.
